Writing Audio Description: Can AI Learning Beat Human Creativity?
More and more people argue that Access Services is something that AI could do totally on its own in the near future. For Audio Description this would mean that AI must have the ability to transfer information from a moving image, like a movie for cinema or a TV series, into a written text and put this text in between the dialogue gaps, creating a coherent combination of description and dialogue in the end.
Is it possible? Participants of the workshop will discuss this at the end - after they got a quick introduction into the basics of Audio Description and created a little piece of description for a film clip on their own - handmade in the old fashioned human way. Can AI beat this?

The Future of Subtitling: Mastering Machine Translation and Post-Editing
This workshop provides an introduction to the impact of artificial intelligence and machine translation on subtitling. It begins with an overview of the evolution of subtitling practices, from traditional manual approaches to current AI-assisted workflows. Participants will gain practical insights into Machine Translation Post-Editing (MTPE), a process where subtitlers refine and adjust machine-generated subtitles instead of producing them from scratch. Using English–Romanian examples, the workshop highlights common challenges in this language pair and presents effective strategies for addressing them. The practical part will allow participants to work directly with AI-generated subtitles, identifying typical issues such as mistranslations, timing mismatches, cultural inaccuracies, and formatting problems. Through guided exercises, participants will learn how to detect and correct these errors while maintaining professional quality standards. By the end of the workshop, they will be equipped with practical techniques to adapt to new subtitling practices and remain competitive in an increasingly automated audiovisual translation field.
